The “Blogger Calendar” is a Java Applet/Servlet combination package. It is a non-script [binary] program and executes very quickly. The [calendar] package — requires a web host that supports server side Java. Java is becoming more popular everyday. Several large hosting organizations offer this support at reasonable rates — including Network Solutions and LunarPages. Alternatively, Hosting-Q a service of QiSoftware, offers Java supported web hosting. Hosting-Q JSP plans start at $200.00 a year and offer a myriad of services. updated 7-22-08
The price of the Blogger Calendar package is $9.95 USD and is configured for each blog client site. I would need to reconfigure the calendar if the client desired to move the location of his/her blog. I do not offer the source code and the calendar uses an end user type software agreement.
The calendar has several standard features including user settable color options, a 100 year calendar, the ability to retrieve posts for a specified month, and easy navigation features that do not require page refreshing every time a new month is selected.
The software package can be integrated with the following blog platforms
(1) Blogger [blogspot and private domain support]
(2) WordPress
(3) Movable Type
There are limitations with the use of the calendar on Blogger.com blogspot blogs [no longer exist]. New Blogger Feeds and API reference call have made the following non-issues:
(1) You must either set daily archiving on or
(2) Maintain a separate post with the dates of your posts.
These limitations do not exist if you are FTPing your blog posts from Blogger.com to a private domain.
I have had quite a bit of interest in the calendar. This should cover most questions.
