I debated posting about this. Why? The bandages I use to fix my computers, car, and health may lead clients to think I cannot get the software project completed. Here are the reasons I am a good bet:
- If I did not think I could do the job– I would not accept it. One of the mistakes many made coming into this. I say goodbye quickly if I think it is a bad fit. For example– that sounded like a black idiot on the FBI’s phone yesterday. The day Obama came into office as president– I told Michelle gently [via thin air], not to play with me.. I am the wrong person. I had a bad weekend this past weekend. Macbook problems– the wrong noise about the Weather Feed. I have indicated several times to the white house– do not play with me, not interested.. That was Michelle on my phone yesterday morning when I was trying to call the FBI? What amazes me– I say get off me years ago– I am crying over something I deem really important– and all of a sudden I want to talk to an idiot I said no thanks too? Brian of the news seems to think the same way.. If I am in trouble– I certainly do not wish to talk to the idiot I already said no thank you too. What part of this logic is hard for you? Was not Michelle but another hard headed idiot? FBI– said no.
- I do not want legal issues associated with my work..
- I did find a fix– and can for you too, if I need to.
- I have very little in the way of monetary resources– yet all the ideas and work for WiredPages, QiSoftware and Hosting-Q are mine.
If I agree to take the job- I can complete it.
So anyway, here are the fixes I had to make to get my Macbook operational again.
Right from the beginning it appeared my Macbook display was going into sleep mode. Everything else appeared to be working fine. On Sunday I could keep it awake but by that evening the display was done. It was not a backlight problem because it would flash. The display simply would not stay out of sleep mode.
I believe the problem was caused by the expanding battery that I never use. Here is a photo of the battery out of its compartment and the black tape I put over the compartment to insure it stays dirt free.
Expanded Battery & MacBook Base w/Tape
I had a problem with the track pad because of this problem. You do not need the battery to use your Macbook with the power cord [MagSafe].
Here is a Mini DVI Adapter to VGA 9pin hookup I purchased from AA Computers in Hanover, MD yesterday for $12.00.
Mini DVI Adapter
Here is how the hookup looks– the external display in the background [black with the green light]:

Finally, to get the menu and dock to show up on the external display you have to go into system preferences and select the following options.
System Preferences Mirror Displays
Unfortunately, this was difficult. Why? Unless you set this option before having a problem with your Macbook display, you cannot access the System Preferences from the external display. So yesterday when I first got the adaptor I could see the hard-drive and the desktop– but not the dock nor upper menu bar. [Since I already had the backups I really needed- I was still a little upset.] Because most Mac applications are not modal
[sounds like mode-l [not fashion model– that said- It may be the other way– long time since I have talked– X Window GUI issues]– you cannot run them without the upper menu bar. Not even system preferences. So last night in a darkened room- I used a flashlight to see the Macbook display and to find the mouse pointer. I was able to set the Mirror Display option via this manner and now can see everything [and do everything] via the external display.
Even though the external monitor is a bit muted in color– [telling me the Macbook display is in sleep mode], everything else [i.e., sound, screen grabs, etc.] is working correctly. I can do everything I could with the Macbook display. I always used the power cord anyway, and never use the Macbook out of my own network– so this solution is not that bad for me.
The photos and one screen grab for this post were either loaded to the Macbook [from my camera] or taken using the external display setup. This post also submitted from the Macbook.
I am looking into getting another Macbook. I cannot work effectively without my Macbook– although I have started to move things to other platforms.
Who in Maryland wants to raise their hand and explain why I would destroy equipment like this before taking it to the repair shop?
