my new wireless g router
For most of the evening I have been trying to get the Belkin Internet Phone to hookup to my wireless Acer Netbook so that it would act as a router or gateway for the phone. Happy to report finally succeeded.
photo is a little fuzzy…k
The phone and netbook are connected using a 6′ cat 5e networking cable.
Screen grabs of the two devices connected as reported by the Windows XP network connections dialogs.
screen grabs a little fuzzy…too
What’s interesting about the speed stats that are a bit blurry? The Wireless adaptor which is acting as the pass-thru for the phone to the internet, is showing 54Mbps and the phone’s connection is 100.
Here is the key to getting the devices working in sync:
Secure Web Server [HTTPS] in the Firewall settings for the Wireless connection.
I am not showing the entire dialog– but the item shown checked, is the only one within the entire list.
I am so pleased. I will not need to purchase a wireless Skype phone nor will I need to get a wireless router. My netbook is doing the job. I can work on the patio, basement– or anywhere I can get a good WiFi connection. That said– these days, I rarely connect outside of my own networks.
By the way– bridging the two devices can only be done without sharing– and that knocks out internet access. I tried to bridge the two devices at first. I never found a way to make it work.
