FBI- I should not have banking and credit issues..
I have one credit card other than my debit credit card and I try not to use it often –but did want a rebate that was being offered. I also keep a manageable balance on the card– which I am paying down to avoid a proposed increase in my APR– if I use the card before paying the balance down.
I mostly pay for purchases with my debit/credit card. In October ’08 I took a small cash advance which I intended to pay back within the same billing period. The cash advance was for about $120.00 and I needed it right away but expected funds to cover the advance within a week or so.
I pay my credit card online– but discovered when I went to pay off the cash advance, I had to mail it to a special processing center and note that I wanted the funds to apply to the cash advance. I did this on both checks I sent in to cover the cash advance–but noticed on the next statement I was carrying an interest rate on a cash advance amount.
For some reason– in December ’08, I did not call my Master Card company to investigate– when I noticed the interest on a cash advance amount. However, I did notice that both payments as well as payments I made online had been applied to the balance correctly and so I was not that worried. That said, I did know interest on cash advance amounts is more than interest on revolving credit balances. The reason I wanted the cash advance paid off and went through the trouble of mailing the payments in– in the first place-
Today, I went online to pay on my credit card balance and noticed that my interest rate had gone up. I called them– and explained I had not used the card since being notified of the proposed rate increase and therefore should not have had a increase on the interest rate for the running balance. They agreed and said they would look into it. I also finally asked why I had interest on a cash advance I had paid off almost as soon as I had taken it out. They asked if I mailed the payments to the proper center and if I had put the proper notations on the checks– and I said I had– also stating I had copies of the checks.
There was $100 in my cash advance balance. They moved the amount– but I am not sure why it was there in the first place. I hate getting on the phone to work things out like this- -and this was probably the reason I did not do it in December ’08 when I noticed the interest on a cash balance.
I say– I have too much surveillance to have problems with credit cards and banks.
When I was looking through my bag for the copies of the checks [I keep a lot of things in that bag]– I found a credit report showing I had a particular type of credit card in the late 90s that I never had. I meant to investigate this too but the card was in good standing.
I should have excellent credit [have not checked in awhile]- but my master card company just increased my credit amount– and I did not even ask them to. I should also not have any problems with banks because of all of my surveillance.
The $100 balance in the cash advance column bothered me. I only had one– and it was not for $100. My credit card company was good about moving the balance over to the revolving credit balance– even after so much time had lapsed. I offer this as one of my lessons learned with credit cards.
The credit card in my credit report I never owned also bothers me. FBI– I should not have problems like this.
This a warning to anyone trying to use my credit– don’t. By the way– for those of you that think I have some sort of government card or funds– I don’t. Do not screw with me.
