she can do it… I do not mind.
When Grace Cho and her husband who had recently completed his doctoral work at the University of Maryland decided to go back to South Korea, I was tentatively approached about supporting Stephanie Lowe with the hodgepodge of ADA programs, databases and databases procedures that helped her to produce local accounting numbers for our office. Our home office was out of Anaheim but we had overhead functions related to the corporate offices that comprised the Washington Operations of Rockwell.
I said no– I was not Grace and Stephanie was not going to be yelling for me every 10 minutes. What I proposed– I would develop a pc application [initially thinking Excel] whereby she could run all of her on reports and easily change the data herself.
The problem with the system she had been using for many years? Some of the database procedures were not as sophisticated as they should have been and sometimes simple rollbacks were needed. Stephanie was reluctant to learn prompt SQL commands so Grace was often out of her seat– rolling back some mistake Steph had made. The other problem– it was a hodgepodge of programs and procedure files. I wanted it to put all of these accounting functions into one system– so she could run it herself without assistance.
I sold the idea to Newcomb but not to Steph. She was very upset. Steph’s position was a support overhead function and I was on contract. To have me stop and see about Steph’s issues– would have put me on an overhead number and that was the selling point I used for Newcomb.
I developed a very sophisticated HR platform using MS Access which was brand new at the time. I learned the platform quickly and loved the power of the database. I took the hodgepodge of accounting tools and put the same functions in the system and added some other really neat functions– and it was all one program– running on a pc. It was a hit.
Stephanie was moved to a secretarial position with the International offices by the time the system went into production. I started the work– around July 93 and it was complete by October 93. Steph transfered around June 93 I believe.
My only support of the system was functionality. And I made sure the system was user friendly. At one point– Newcomb said that he was going to have Ilene, [not sure what Ilene did] help him to input data. I said okay. I think I was supposed to say– no I will do it. I did not. When I first created the system I exported data from any number of sources Steph had been using so that I could import to the new Access system. This is when I learned the salaries of everyone in our office. Ilene would only be entering new data. This was not my function. I was technical support. massive imports or integrate new functionality– I did. Day to day update– I did not want to do.
The sophistication of the HR system I developed should not be underestimated. I also did a lot of the learning and work on my own time. there was a lot of functionality that had to be integrated in a short period of time and I was new to Access. I did a great job– really.
The point of this post…. I have seen behavior offered by some men [mostly white men] where they will try to suggest they will have so and so do something in hopes I will offer services… I put in a lot of my own time. I knew before i started why I always wanted to be on contract but after putting in all of the sophisticated accounting functions and reports I had a better understanding of corporate accounting. Supporting that database would have been an overhead number and Ilene was more than welcome to it. I believe Ilene had a degree in business or something like that. She was not support staff– but she was also not part of a engineering group.
Today I observe people more carefully. I have seen Newcomb’s “trick” a lot. I think I will have Ilene update this for me… Me– Okay– let me know if she has any problems. Today, I have noticed stupid white women tend to try and treat me like the puppy that should be minding them. I want to tell these women that they are the ones licking their masters and not me. BITCH HEED MY WARNING. I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH YOUR NO CLASS SHIT.
I do not raise my hand. I will tell you to have your soapy smelling whore do it. Stop wasting my time. Love stinks. Soapy doesn’t. The mistake today…. black women enjoy more than white. Newcomb that is not my fault. that is the fault of white men. Now you get your crazy bitches off me.
Black women– I have seen a lot of the Prissy mentality as related to me- I can birth that baby [gone with the wind]. I have been screwed for all the wrong reasons.. take your crap somewhere else.
