bar too low…
When I first started with Rockwell, John Winston [my boss] wanted his engineers to use Runoff a DEC supplied rudimentary editor [word processor]. Yes, there were commercial word-processors at the time and my office did have enough licenses for any engineer in the office who wanted to use one– to be able to.
I believe John’s insistence that his group use Runoff [sort of like HTML but geared more toward writing than web development]– was part of the preparation for me. Runoff is a good example of how word-processors came to be. The early DOS WordPerfect “reveal codes- F3 Key on the a PC”– shows the type of commands we would manually insert into a text file to format our words.
I know how word-processors have evolved.
This morning, I was watching this informational program about RVing. Highlighted was a black family of four taking an RVing holiday. There was a white host– who was discussing how to RV and helpful hints.
In one segment, the host explained that sometimes you get dirt on your RV. When this happens– a concentrated liquid, mixed with 2 quarts of water and a good rub down of the problem area– could remedy this problem in no time. The segment featured the black father and the host. Not the 2 kids of the RVing family, that appeared to be under 10. That said– I believe even their intellect to advanced for this discussion.
America– I am tired of you wasting my time– prepping me on how to have skills. I have a lot of skills— and style. [I feel like most of you ought to be Jack Nicholson in “A Few Good Men” saying to me– “don’t I feel like a stupid…”]– the scene I reference– Nicholson is talking to Cruise about his father.
Most of you do not have my skills nor style. Waste someone else’s time.
