Holiday Cookies ’08
I love Holiday cookies and several years ago the Baltimore Sun published a great shortbread holiday cookie recipe. Here is a scan:
A great Simple Almond Icing
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- couple drops of pure almond extract
- 1 cup powered sugar
Bring to a simmer water and sugar. Add a bit at a time of the water/sugar mixture to the powered sugar [you probably will not need all of the sugar water] until you get the consistency you want [should drizzle– later it sets]. Add pure almond extract to taste while the substance is simmering. Spoon/drizzle the icing on the cooled cookies. It should set up quickly. I found that the icing is better after it sits awhile.
Yes, I have provided this Holiday cookie recipe before but I think it is so good that I decided to repost in case you need something like this for your holiday baking.
I made a chocolate cake today. Tonight I hope to get the cornbread dressing started.
