Yesterday, while researching my Macbook display sleep issue I found several useful links that I want to share.
- Battery Sleep Sensor Part
- Macbook Repair Videos
- One Solution— I do not recommend this solution especially if your Macbook is still under warranty.
The reason I note the third bullet above, is because it gave me a clue as to the reason I might be having a problem with the display sleep sensor. I am hoping the purchase of a new $128.00 battery will fix my problem.
Why not the battery sensor and connector? Because that looks okay. My old battery– the original one I have had since Jan. 08, looks damaged or warped. The blogger providing the solution in the third bullet discusses how loose the connector leads might be and how to make them tighter. Mine are very tight.. so it must be the battery leads were not tight. Why does it run without a battery.. maybe it is not supposed to.
My Acer Netbook manual provided that when using the power cord it is best to unplug the battery. My Macbook manual did not say that and maybe the warping caused the problem.
I suspected as much but felt surer after discovering where the sleep sensor was located. For some reason I thought it was near the monitor. It is not– it is in the battery compartment..
